Special Update Newsletter
Excel Families,

I hope this finds everyone safe and well! First, I would like to thank everyone for the outpouring support, kind words, and encouragement during the shutdown. While it has been a challenge for the business, having such an amazing community of families has certainly helped in a special way, and has provided us at Excel with even more drive and purpose as we look towards the steps needed to reopen and resume our programs. In this special edition of the Belly Flop, we have outlined some updates and announcements for our programs, as well as listed some swimming and non swimming related resources for families and swimmers.

I hope that you enjoy reading this special edition of the Belly Flop, and from all of us here at Excel Aquatics, we look forward to seeing everyone back in the pool soon!

Backyard Swim Lessons Coming Soon!
With the potential of some programs/services opening up over the coming weeks, we are optimistic that our backyard swim lessons will be given the green light to safely begin! We are currently creating a protocol to adhere to the safety guidelines set forth by the CDC. For families who have previously been a part of this program, we will be having your child’s instructor or the Excel Program Director touching base shortly via email to get an idea of who would be interested in at home lessons once it is deemed safe. If you are not a returning family but would like to learn more about our at home lessons, please email us directly at info@goswimexcel.com, or follow the link below to fill out an inquiry form.

Lifeguard Rentals
During the summer months, Excel Aquatics offers lifeguarding services to local families of the Capital District. Our guards provide peace of mind at your home as a professional set of eyes on the water to ensure an extra layer of safety for your family and friends. Once this type of service is deemed safe by NYS, we will be able to begin scheduling! To learn more, check out our information page link below.

On Site Programming: Moving Forward
While there is not yet a start date for lessons held at recreational facilities, we have already begun the planning phases of the relaunch of both swim lessons and practices! This planning phase includes creating a new safety protocol for all classes, as well as modifications to our current structure to help keep both families and staff safe, per CDC recommendations and guidelines. As we near the reopening, we will be in touch with all families on any and all information available at that time. We sincerely appreciate everyone’s patience and look forward to swimming again!
Swim Resource Videos on YouTube
Have you seen our new YouTube videos for triathletes and competitive swimmers? During the shutdown, we have been able to create some videos exploring the technical aspects of swimming, as well as some analysis of our triathletes! If you are a swimmer interested in having your swim video analyzed, please send a copy to info@goswimexcel.com!

Remote Tutoring for Children K-6

As a community resource, a couple of our instructors have begun working for a remote tutoring service in the Capital District geared specifically for children in grades K-6.  The tutoring is offered as live remote instruction, and caters to both private one on one and small groups of students. If anyone is interested in more information or is looking for a tutor, please let us know and we can put you in touch with the tutors.

May is Water Safety Month!
Being able to swim is a life-saving skill for children and adults alike but, unfortunately just knowing how to swim does not always prevent accidents. It is important for parents and children to remember that taking lessons isn’t a catch all to water safety, and other precautions should be taken to remain safe around the pool.
